Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. While growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in the Maryland high school event in her early years of schooling, she won the prize for the best actress. In addition to her work at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of the Washington Ballet Company.' She received the degree of Acting at New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love earned her a first-class role. The film was followed by films such as "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". Contractor who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7, had traveled the world and experienced various cultures while growing up. She attended boarding school in London from seven to nine, after which her family moved into Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She also excelled academically. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. Contractor decided to take acting more seriously at the age of 16 following almost 10 years of dancing. When she completed her high school education, she was awarded a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and she also double-majored in Psychology and Sociology. Contractor landed her first role after a year of university. The play received rave reviews and her work during the 92 performances that the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted to a course of 20 weeks in classical theater. Contractor's spot was assured during the upcoming play, and she landed Hermia's part as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
